PXT Select™ and its intuitive suite of reports helps fill the gap between the resume and the interview.
Candidates take a multiple-choice, online assessment that takes about an hour to complete. It provides the hiring manager with insight into a candidate’s cognitive abilities, behavioral traits, and interests.
The Thinking Style portion of PXT Select™ measures a candidate's cognitive ability, to help you understand how they process and communicate information. Assessment questions test a candidate's base knowledge of vocabulary and mathematical concepts, as well as how they might apply that knowledge in the workplace. The results help you see how well candidates are likely to understand the relationships between concepts, solve problems, draw conclusions, make predictions, and harness what they know to communicate and interact with others.
Thinking Style measures four cognitive abilities: Verbal Skill, Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and Numeric Reasoning. A candidate's results will consist of measurements for each of these four scales, plus a composite score based on those measurements.
Candidates are compared against a Performance Model of the preferred traits for a given job. If the model suggests that individuals whose results fall in the higher range of the scale tend to be most successful in the position, then you want to hire the candidates whose results are also on the higher end. However, if the Performance Model calls for scores on the lower end of the scale, a lower result is what is most predictive of success in the position. To the extent the candidate fits the model – no matter where the range falls, the more similar the candidate is to successful individuals in the position, the better the chance they will also be successful in the role.
Job seekers do not need to study or prepare for the assessment. Since the assessment uses adaptive testing, candidates will be challenged by increasingly difficult questions on the cognitive tests. use of a calculators is allowed. We recommend taking the assessment in a quiet location that is free from distractions.

Several reports are available to you within the Profiles Assessment Center. When reviewing a candidate’s PXT Select assessment results, you will quickly be able to see whether the candidate falls within or outside the range. The most frequently used report, The Comprehensive Selection Report, provides relevant job-specific interview questions. Unless the administrator chooses to have a report emailed to the person taking the assessment, they will not see the results.
Other reports can help with onboarding, managing or one-on-one reviews. Compare one candidate against a set of possible openings or compare multiple candidates for one position.
