What is a Performance Model?
In general, a Performance Model is a template to which you compare your job candidates. A Performance Model represents the range of cognitive ability and behavioral traits that are associated with success in a particular job. It is a snapshot of the preferred traits for a given job. For example, some jobs require a more urgent pace versus a steadier pace. Performance models from our library are based on the traits of people who have been successful in specific positions.
When reviewing a candidate’s PXT Select assessment results, one can quickly see whether the candidate falls within or outside the range.
The Library was developed in two ways: (1) by examining our own data set of tens of thousands of top and bottom performers to understand what traits are common to people who are successful in different positions, and (2) by using data about job requirements and successful performance from the U.S. Department of Labor’s O*Net database.
